Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co.,Ltd. (LAOSAT) is a joint venture invested by Lao Satellite State Enterprise under the Lao government, CHINAROCKET CO. LTD. Space Star Technology Co., Ltd. under china Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and Asia Pacific Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. LAOSAT was incorporated in February 2016 and authorized to commercially operate the LAOSAT-1 communication satellite, a state-owned asset of Laos.

The business scope of LAOSAT includes satellite communication, satellite TV, and telecommunication broadband, which are authorized and franchised by the Government of Laos. The satellite communication business includes satellite transponder leasing, VSAT system operation, and emergency communication services ; the satellite TV business includes TV signal transmission, TV program production and broadcasting.and TV relay services, and the telecommunication broadband business includes fiber to the home, wireless to the home,  government company dedicated line services.

China-Laos Community with a Shared Future Action Plan

The Action Plan on Building a China-Laos Community with a Shared Future (2024-2028) between the Communist Party of China and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party proposes to fully leverage the advantages of the "LaoSat-1" communication satellite, focusing on cultivating Laotian talent in satellite monitoring, control, and application. China will apply aerospace technology to support Laos' national socioeconomic development and the improvement of people's livelihoods. The two sides will explore the establishment of a National Satellite Application Center in Laos and build a cooperative platform for satellite remote sensing applications, promoting collaboration in surveying, mapping, and geospatial information technologies between China and Laos. This includes assisting in the development of comprehensive databases for Laos in areas such as agriculture, land, forests, and minerals. The plan also aims to advance the application of aerospace technologies, including satellite communications, remote sensing, and navigation, to foster Laos' economic and scientific progress. China will help Laos train scientific research personnel, enhance their research capabilities and standards, and promote the application of scientific and technological achievements in Laos' national development.
